Samuel Whitbread Academy

Key Stage 4

Following their option subject selections in year 9, students will undertake their Key Stage 4 studies at the beginning of Year 10.  All students will study the core subjects of Mathematics, English and Science, and will study an additional four option subjects.

Depending on the option subject, students will gain either a GCSE or a BTEC Level 2 at the end of their Key Stage 4 studies.

Here at Samuel Whitbread Academy, we choose the curriculum that meets the needs of our students, and as a result we use a number of Awarding Bodies: Pearson, AQA, Cambridge, and WJEC: and we adhere fully with the JCQ guidelines for examinations.

In order for us to monitor, track and support the progress of our students, we conduct mock examinations at the end of year 10, and in the Autumn and Spring term of year 11 before the terminal examination season begins in May.

** GCSE season runs from the beginning of May until the end of June. **
