International Day 2025

An afternoon of culture, food, and music brought our school community together in a vibrant celebration of unity and understanding.
International Day is an occasion where we celebrate the diverse cultures and traditions that make our school community unique. It’s a day to recognise the many nationalities represented within our walls and to foster mutual respect and understanding. International Day highlights the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion, reinforcing these core values that are essential to both our school and society at large. This day also serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to work towards eliminating discrimination.
On Friday, February 14th, our students were invited to attend school in traditional attire, colours representing their national heritage, or in non-uniform dress. This non-uniform day was the grand finale of a week filled with activities celebrating the diversity of our school. Throughout the week, students engaged in various tutor time activities and assemblies that emphasised the importance of cultural understanding.
The afternoon featured a series of exciting and educational activities for Year 9 students, allowing them to experience different aspects of world culture. Students participated in a cultural dance workshop with Sharon De Leonardis, where they had the opportunity to learn and perform dances. The world food taster session was a highlight, offering delicious treats such as Jollof rice, Chinese spring rolls, and Cypriot delicacies, amongst others. Additionally, Mrs. Meadows led an African drumming session where students explored traditional rhythms and tempos, immersing themselves in the sounds.
This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to broaden their horizons, learn about, and appreciate the many cultures represented in our school. It was a day of joy, learning, and celebration of the rich tapestry of backgrounds that make our community so special.
