Handball
The Year 10 Boys' dominated the Handball County Finals this week, remaining unbeaten throughout the Round Robin competition to be crowned County Champions. The team performed admirably, with F. Millward pulling the strings in the middle of the court to keep the attack moving. Our defence was a literal wall; O. Ellis blocked everything in his path, while H. Endersby stayed sharp between the posts with some vital saves. Of course, no great team is complete without a strong leader. Captain P. Lane led by example, combining a powerful defensive work rate with some absolute net-breaking goals to secure the title.
Trampolining
We are still in the early stages of developing our trampoline extracurricular offer. However, we are still achieving National Finals! E.Duignan (Y9) is leading the charge for SWA trampolining with an impressive performance in the British Schools Trampoline Finals. She competed extremely well, with her final score placing her in 5th position in the U14 advanced category. One year down and one student to the National Finals, we are already looking forward to next year to see how many of you we can get to the same level!
Cross Country
We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news regarding Year 11 student Olly W, who has reached a monumental milestone in his sporting career.
Following a gruelling and highly competitive race at the English Schools Cross Country Championships, Olly crossed the finish line in a spectacular 10th place. This elite top-ten finish is a massive achievement in its own right, but it also comes with a prestigious honour: Olly has officially been selected to represent his country in an upcoming international event just before the Easter break.
Success at this level doesn’t happen by accident. Olly has worked tirelessly over the past three years, braving the elements and putting in countless miles of disciplined training. This international call-up is the much-deserved reward for his unwavering grit and commitment. On behalf of the entire school community, we want to wish Olly the very best of luck as he puts on his national vest. We are incredibly proud of your progress, Olly—run hard and enjoy every moment!
