Students Engage with UK Parliament Team

On 11th February, we were delighted to welcome the UK Parliament Engagement Team into school for a day of political learning and discussion.

Across Periods 1 and 2, the team delivered interactive presentations to 160 Year 9 students and 50 Year 12 Politics and History students. The sessions were particularly timely, as students explored proposals that the voting age could potentially be lowered to 16, a change that would directly impact many of them in the coming years.

Students learnt about how Parliament works, how laws are debated and passed, and the different ways individuals can make their voices heard within the UK’s political system. The workshops encouraged thoughtful discussion, and students engaged confidently, asking insightful questions about representation, decision-making, and democratic participation.

It was a valuable opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of democracy in action and to consider the important role they may soon play within it.

We thank the Parliament Engagement Team for an informative and inspiring visit.
