On Point: SWA Dancers Dazzle this Summer!

It’s been a fantastic month for dance at SWA, with students taking part in a range of exciting opportunities and achieving some incredible successes.
Our Year 10 students had the chance to participate in a dynamic workshop led by professional dance practitioner Lisa Risdale. They spent two inspiring hours exploring repertoire and developing their contact work, an experience that was both educational and thoroughly enjoyable.
Meanwhile, two of our talented students, Jess and Rosa, travelled to Spain with their Dance School, Dance Steps Academy, to compete in the Dance World Cup with their dance school. What an amazing opportunity. Well done to both of you!
And huge congratulations to Ruby, whose achievements at the "So You Want to Dance" competition last weekend were nothing short of extraordinary. She placed first in both her lyrical duet and her contemporary solo, and received a standing ovation from the judges for her solo performance. Ruby was also nominated as the dancer with the highest overall score in the senior solo category and was named the Senior Dance Challenge winner. In addition, she received the Judges’ Special Award, was awarded two fully funded scholarships for training in London and Brighton, and secured a place on the prestigious Kimberley Wyatt Intensive Dance Course.
We are incredibly proud of Ruby. What an outstanding achievement and a true inspiration to our dance community!
