Building Bridges Across Generations

During the week commencing 16th July, a group of our students had the privilege of visiting Oak Manor Care Home as part of an ongoing intergenerational project. This special visit was focused on preparing for the upcoming VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) commemorations. Students had the opportunity to sit down with residents and listen to their stories and memories from that time. These heartfelt conversations were deeply moving, offering students a unique insight into the past and allowing residents to share their invaluable experiences.
Later that week, on Friday, our Performing Arts students visited Oak Manor to take part in the care home’s MHA Music Festival. The choir performed a selection of songs, filling the space with joy and warmth. They also spent time chatting with the residents, strengthening the bond that is blossoming between our school and the Oak Manor community.
It has been truly heartwarming to see such meaningful connections forming. We are incredibly grateful to Oak Manor Care Home for welcoming our students so warmly and for helping us build this special relationship between generations. We look forward to many more shared experiences in the future.
