Year 10 Design and Technology Students Visit the Design Museum

Earlier this term, our Year 10 Design and Technology students took part in an inspiring trip to the Design Museum in London. As part of their GCSE coursework, the visit offered a valuable opportunity to explore how design shapes and protects our environment.

The highlight of the day was a hands-on workshop focused on sustainable design. Students were introduced to a range of everyday products and challenged to think critically about how these items could be redesigned to reduce their environmental impact. The session encouraged students to consider the lifecycle of products and how thoughtful design can contribute to a more sustainable future.

In addition to the workshop, students had time to explore the museum’s exhibitions, which showcased the evolution of product design over time. From iconic furniture pieces to cutting-edge technology, the displays sparked plenty of ideas and inspiration for their own GCSE projects.

The trip was a fantastic way to connect classroom learning with real-world design, helping students to think more like responsible, innovative designers. It was a day full of creativity, critical thinking, and forward-looking ideas; all key ingredients in the world of design and technology.
