Project Partridge: Hatching Hope for the Wild

Building on our springtime success with ducklings, we're now helping native partridges take flight!

After the excitement of our duck hatching project earlier this year, we’re thrilled to launch our latest hands-on conservation adventure: Partridge Hatching! Ten precious partridge eggs have arrived at SWA as part of a national effort to support the UK's wild partridge population.

Once hatched and nurtured, the young chicks will be carefully released into specially selected habitats. These sites are designed to provide everything they need; shelter, food, and safety, to develop the instincts and independence required for life in the wild. Even more exciting, they may be adopted by wild or grey partridges, who often step in to raise young birds as their own.

We’re incredibly proud to take part in this meaningful conservation project and can’t wait to share updates with you as our feathery friends grow, hatch, and head off into the great outdoors!

Students and staff can access the live "hatch cam" here.
