Academic Enrichment & Extension Opportunities

The very nature of this subject is enrichment and, as mentioned at the beginning, our aim is to broaden students skill sets and let them choose areas of study that may deviate from the traditional curriculum or support them directly in their future pathways. Students can choose to undertake more than one enrichment, however, some prefer to change part way through the year so they can build on a variety of skills. Often, courses such as MOOC’s and teachers for tomorrow help students to identify the industry they would like to undertake work experience in to gain a better understanding of opportunities in this area.

Future Options & Career Opportunities

EPQ helps to develop skills for higher education and the workplace and can allow students to identify a topic they are interested in that could lead to further exploration of possible career paths. Key skills for the workplace and higher education that EPQ helps to develop are:

  • Conducting research
  • Time management
  • Planning
  • Reflecting on work and making improvements
  • How to interview
  • How to present
  • Independence
