Year 9 Art Lessons

Our Year 9 students have been channelling their creativity into a thought-provoking project centred on protecting the planet.
Students have been experimenting with mixed media pieces that aim for advocacy. They first chose a favourite animal to draw, after which they then add watercolours to create a striking visual. Students then learnt the importance of bold typography, where they then wrote messages that highlight the environmental problems surrounding their chosen animals.
By experimenting with mixed media, students are learning how contrasting textures and bold typography can empower a message. The vibrancy of the watercolours paired with the
textures of the oil pastels creates an enticing visual for the calls to environmental action.
It has been inspiring to see our Year 9 students demonstrate such passion and empathy through their work this term.
