Year 9 & 10’s Dominate the KS4 League

In an absolutely stellar team effort, our Year 9/10 boys and girls teams are currently sitting comfortably at the top of the league for the KS4 campaign. Competing up a level against a range of schools in the Bedfordshire areas, our students have performed admirably in every round of fixtures. Their determination, teamwork, and sheer talent have put Whitbread firmly in the driving seat.

County Finals Glory

On Wednesday, 10th June, Whitbread was out in full force at the County Finals. An incredible 29 students were selected to represent both our school and the wider district.

The competition was fierce, but our athletes rose to the occasion, putting in spectacular performances across both track and field events. We are thrilled to announce that a number of our students outperformed the best in the county and were officially crowned County Champions! Massive congratulations to everyone who competed, you represented the school with immense pride and distinction.

Next Stop: Regional A Finals (The Road to Nationals!)

 

The excitement doesn't stop there. Both our boys and girls Track and Field Cup teams have successfully navigated the qualifiers to reach the prestigious Regional A Final.

• The Details: On Tuesday, 16th June, our athletes will travel to the Nuneaton athletics track.

• The Stakes: They will be competing against the absolute best schools in the region for a highly coveted spot in the National Final

Year 9 Crowned U14 County Cricket Champions

Congratulations to our Year 9 cricket team, who were crowned U14 County Cricket Champions following an outstanding day of cricket.

The team began by producing a superb performance in the semi-final against Challney, posting 117-3 from their 16 overs. Captain Henry led from the front with an unbeaten half-century, well-supported by Seb, who finished on 31 not out. A disciplined bowling display then restricted Challney to 90-8, with Tom B claiming three wickets and Henry adding two more to secure Whitbread's place in the county final.

In the afternoon final against Biddenham, the team once again rose to the occasion. Batting first, Whitbread scored 127-5, with Jackson producing an outstanding unbeaten 50, supported by Oakly. The bowlers then held their nerve, with Tom starring by taking four wickets as Biddenham were restricted to 112-9, sealing a fantastic 15-run victory and the county title.

Congratulations to the entire squad on an exceptional achievement. Their teamwork, determination and skill throughout the day were a credit to Samuel Whitbread Academy.
