A Month of Creativity in Performing Arts

From live gigs to showcase performances, March has been packed with talent, energy and unforgettable moments.
March is always a busy and exciting time for the Performing Arts department, and this year has been no exception!
They kicked things off with Band Blast Off at Esquires in Bedford, where our student bands Retroplay and Make Name Later performed alongside 10 other schools. It was an incredible opportunity for our musicians to experience a live venue and share their sound with a wider audience.
Hot on its heels was our Spring Music Concert, a fantastic evening that truly showcased the breadth of talent at SWA. From brass and strings to solo vocalists and grunge rock bands, the variety and quality of performances were outstanding. A standout moment of the night was a special preview of our upcoming July production of The Addams Family, with the cast delivering an energetic song and dance number.
A huge thank you to all the musicians and singers who took part and made the evening such a success.

Meanwhile, the Drama Department impressed audiences with their GCSE performance pieces, demonstrating confidence, creativity and a high level of skill.
Our dancers have also had an incredibly exciting month. Forty students travelled to London to attend Move It 2026, the world’s largest dance convention. They enjoyed watching leading dance schools, including Addict and Wilkes Academy, perform on the main stage, exploring dancewear stalls, and taking part in workshops led by professional dancers. It was an inspiring experience for all involved — although the journey home was noticeably quieter after such a busy day!

Unfortunately, our Easter Dance showcase had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. We are rescheduling it for Wednesday, 15th April 2026. Already purchased tickets will still be valid for the new date.
We hope all of our Performing Arts students have a well-deserved and restful Easter break — you have certainly earned it!
