Sixth Formers Take Part in Lessons from Aushwitz Project

We are proud to announce that Year 12 students, Lily S and Abigail M, were selected to participate in the prestigious Lessons from Auschwitz (LFA) Project, organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust. As part of this remarkable opportunity, the students took part in a one‑day visit to the former Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz‑Birkenau in Poland.
The LFA Project provides far more than a site visit; it is a powerful educational journey that encourages deep reflection. Throughout the programme, Lily and Abigail explored the history of the Holocaust, examined its ongoing relevance in today’s world, and considered the importance of challenging prejudice and discrimination in all forms.
Before travelling, the students attended an Orientation Seminar in London, where they learnt about pre‑war Jewish life, discussed the unique considerations involved in visiting Holocaust-related sites, and listened to moving testimony from a Holocaust survivor.
On Wednesday 25th February, they travelled to Poland for an immersive day of learning, including guided tours of authentic historical locations and museum exhibits. Upon their return, they will take part in a Follow‑Up Seminar, designed to help them process their experience, reflect on the lessons learnt, and begin developing ways to share these insights within our school and the wider community.
After completing the programme, Lily and Abigail will become LFA Ambassadors, creating a project aimed at furthering Holocaust education and raising awareness.
We are immensely proud of their achievement and look forward to the valuable contributions they will make to Holocaust education in our community.
