November Sporting Highlights

It has been an exceptional few weeks of sporting success at Samuel Whitbread Academy, with our students demonstrating incredible talent, determination and teamwork across a wide range of disciplines. Here is a round up of the fantastic achievements taking place across the academy.

Trampolining Success

A huge congratulations to Erin D (Year 9), who competed in the East Region School Trampolining Competition on Sunday, 23rd November. Erin took part in the highly competitive Year 7–9 Advanced category, placing an impressive 3rd overall out of 14 competitors.

This outstanding result means Erin has qualified for the School Zonal Trampolining Competition in Wales in January 2026.

Well done, Erin — an amazing achievement!

Swimming – National Finals
On 15th November, our U18 Swimming Squad travelled to the Commonwealth Aquatics Centre in Birmingham to compete in the National Swimming Finals. After a strong warm-up and a determined performance, the team finished 3rd in the country in the 4x50m Freestyle Relay.

This is an extraordinary national achievement and a moment of real pride for everyone at SWA. Huge congratulations to the squad!

The standard of netball played was exceptional, and their commitment shone throughout the competition. Regionals, here we come!

Rugby – A Historic and Hard-Fought Week

First Ever 3rd XV
A milestone moment for the Senior Whitbread Programme as our first ever 3rd XV took to the field. Playing away at Mill Hill, the squad showed tremendous character, securing a 24–24 draw in a fiercely contested match.

A historic step for SWA rugby — and certainly not the last!

Year 10 Victory vs Finborough

Our Year 10 squad delivered a brilliant team performance in a close match against Finborough. With 25 players representing SWA, every student played their part in the 20–15 win, after leading 15–10 at half-time.

A fantastic effort from an outstanding group.

National Cup – Regional Final
Our U15s now prepare for a huge challenge as they take on Northampton School for Boys in the National Cup Regional Final:

  • 📍Northampton School for Boys
