A Message from Principal, Mr Martin
As we reach the end of another year, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been an incredible and rewarding 2025 for our whole school community. Throughout the year, our students have consistently demonstrated enthusiasm, resilience and ambition, both in and out of the classroom, and I am extremely proud of all that they have achieved.
December has been a hectic and exciting month. We have celebrated several individual student achievements, including Year 9 Eloise D, who was crowned the overall winner of the BEST Christmas Card Competition, a wonderful example of the creativity and talent within our school. Students have also benefited from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, with several extracurricular trips taking place, including visits to museums and Cambridge University, helping to broaden experiences and bring learning to life.
The Performing Arts department has had a remarkable end to the year, beginning with a highly successful Performing Arts Showcase, followed closely by our festive pantomime, Beauty and the Beast. Both events highlighted the exceptional creativity and teamwork of our students and staff. In addition, our school choir has represented us proudly within the local community, performing all around Shefford, including a particularly heartwarming visit to Oaks Manor Care Home.
We have also been delighted to celebrate the achievements of former students. Ex-student Hayder continues to inspire our community, with his short film Rock, Paper, Scissors recently being shortlisted for the 2026 Academy Awards, following recent BAFTA success. His journey is a powerful reminder of the opportunities that can grow from a spark of creativity and ambition.
Sport has been another significant highlight this year, with incredible performances across a wide range of teams. Both girls’ and boys’ football and rugby squads have demonstrated teamwork and steely resilience, while our netball teams have continued to perform strongly and represent the school with pride. These successes reflect the commitment of our students and the dedication of our PE staff. Further details of sporting achievements can be found here.
Our commitment to supporting others has been clearly demonstrated through the Year 12-led Rotary Shoebox Appeal, which resulted in over 140 boxes being collected and donated to support disadvantaged individuals and families across Eastern Europe. This initiative reflects the compassion and sense of social responsibility that runs strongly through our school community.
As we close the year, I would like to thank our students for their hard work, our staff for their dedication, and our parents and carers for their continued support. I wish everyone a peaceful and joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I look forward to welcoming you back in 2026.

Year 9, Mr Rich
Well, what a wonderful whirlwind of wins, whimsy, and willpower this cycle. From our decisive victories with our burgeoning sports stars, to the incredible ingenuity of our STEM students, all the way to the powerful performers with the packed panto! This term has been a great exhibition of the extra effort Year 9 have been bringing in oodles, but also a testament to their developing resilience – overcoming numerous dark and wet starts, yet still bringing their A-Game.
Can you tell Mrs Duguid is teaching me how to write better?!
On that note, our first reports have already gone home, with tasks in lessons helping us to reflect on where improvement can be found.
With all this exhausting excitement, we wish you all a restful and reflective festive break, and look forward to welcoming you back in 2026!
Mr Rich and the Year 9 Team

We are so proud of the hard-working young adults they are becoming, and we’re here to cheer them on every step of the way.

Year 13, Mrs Hoad
At the time of writing, we have now sent over 100 UCAS applications – and we are eternally thankful for the sterling effort by parents/carers, tutors and subject teachers to get our students ready for this potentially life-changing application.
Many of our students have also been progressing really well through their apprenticeship application and interview stages, and we encourage them all to keep regularly searching. Support and resources are available via their Google Classroom, Unifrog, and Miss Freeman (careers). This term has been pretty exhausting – and with IPEs finally over, we hope that they can have a restful couple of weeks and recharge themselves ready for the final stage of the marathon that has been their time at school.
Have a well-deserved break!
