Samuel Whitbread Academy

Research - The Anthecology

The Anthecology is a yearly publication by Samuel Whitbread Academy capturing not only our Teaching & Learning expectations, but also celebrating the fantastic pedagogy and practice of our staff. The publication is framed around our five, research informed, SWA Teaching & Learning Principles: deliberate practice; clear explanation; modelling & scaffolding; questioning & discussion, and assessment & feedback, which drive our desire to improve the quality of teaching and learning across the Academy, ultimately raising outcomes and life chances for our students. The document acts as a teaching & learning handbook for all our teaching, and learning support staff. It is a practical tool, designed to collate and triangulate documentation and CPDL.

Anthecology Archive

A new initiative for this year and as part of our continued engagement with research, the Academy is producing four topical T&L newsletters per academic year. Our first is focused on Adaptive Teaching: what this means and how it might look in our classrooms. The newsletter summarises best practice and signposts to wider reading.
